Teen Book Club 
We bring the book, you bring yourself, and we read together. The book is "On a Sunbeam" by Tillie Walden, a graphic novel about space, love, and loss.

Star Wars Coding Series for Kids 
Children ages 8-12 will design and code their own Star Wars-themed video on the computer using the Scratch interface.

Children will learn about and make their own 3-D Earth.

Make Your Own Aurora for Kids
Children ages 4-12 will make and learn about their own colorful auroras using paint.

Children ages 4-12 will hear stories about the moon. A moon craft will follow the stories.

Toddlers ages 2-5 will make their own planet Earth!

Mini Rocket Storytime and Craft for Kids
Children ages 5-12 will hear stories that have rockets. Then they will make their own mini rockets.

Summer Reading Club Party
We will have a party celebrating those children who completed their summer reading log. There will be a surprise at our party! Only those with a completed summer reading log will be allowed to enter. There will be cool stories and a craft.

Astrology Trivia
Test your knowledge about the astrological signs by participating in astrology trivia. Preregistration is not required but the activity is limited to the first 15 tweens who are going to Grades 6-8 in September. Tickets will be given out in front of the Multipurpose Room ten minutes before the activity starts.

Dance, Dance Storytime 
Celebrate a universe of stories!  Enjoy stories and dancing for children ages birth to 5.  Dancing is a great way to bond with your child and burn a little energy at the same time.  Here are just a few skills children develop while dancing: balance, coordination, rhythm, social skills, self-esteem, body awareness, listening skills, and gross and fine motor skills.  We expect this program to be "out of this world." Siblings are always welcome.

Constellation Circuitry  
In this out-of-this-world workshop, children and teens will learn the basics of circuitry by wiring constellation art to light up using copper tape, LED lights, and a small battery.

Space Cinema for Adults: "Star Trek" (2009)  
Beat the heat and cool off while watching a space-themed movie! This week we will screen "Star Trek" (2009, PG-13*). The brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.*Space Cinema Saturday movies are not suitable for young children. Adults and teens are welcome.

"Moon Day" - Moon Cardboard Challenge  
What would it be like to live on the moon?  We’ll share "To The Moon!" by Jodie Shepherd.  Then we’ll brainstorm about items that we would need.  Participants will design a cardboard version of something they would need or want to have on the moon.  You may bring cereal boxes and paper towel rolls, but all materials will be provided. This program is geared for school-age children.

Family Space Cinema:  "Monsters Vs. Aliens"  
Visit the Queens Public Library in Rochdale Village to watch the space-themed family movie "Monsters Vs. Aliens" (2009, PG). In this family movie, Susan Murphy gets turned into a giant monster on her wedding day when she is hit by a meteorite. She is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters. The  Monsters are called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction.

A team of explorers travel through a wormhole in space in an attempt to ensure humanity's survival. *Space Cinema Saturday movies are not suitable for young children. Adults and teens are welcome.

Visit the Queens Public Library in Rochdale Village to watch the space-themed family movie titled "Ender's Game" (2013, PG-13). Young Ender Wiggin is recruited by the International Military to lead the fight against the Formics, an insectoid alien race who had previously tried to invade Earth and had inflicted heavy losses on humankind.

Visit the Queens Public Library in Rochdale Village to watch the space-themed family movie titled "Mars Needs Moms" (2011, PG). This family movie questions, "Who needs moms, anyway?" Nine-year-old Milo finds out just how much he needs his mom when she's nabbed by Martians, who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. Milo's quest to save his mom involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet, and taking on the alien nation and their leader.
