Celebrate the Holidays at Queens Public Library

The Friends of Pomonok Library Present a Kwanzaa Celebration with Songhai Djeli

Songhai Djeli presents a Kwanzaa program composed of music, poetry, and storytelling. They utilize vocals, woodwinds, and a variety of percussion instruments with a strong connection made between contemporary African American cultural expressions and their traditional African source. They include in their presentation an explanation of the Nguzo Saba (i.e., the seven principles of Kwanzaa) along with songs and rhythms that encourage audience participation.

Pickled green bananas are iconic in our Puerto Rican cuisine. Besides being delicious, they are inexpensive, nutritious, and easy to prepare. They appear at all family parties especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Food is served on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited. Queens Public Library is not responsible for any adverse reaction or illness as a result of tasting.

Ecuadorian Christmas Traditions
