Beatriz Mello - Delicacy

Beatriz Mello applied for the Jamaica FEASTS program on a recommendation from one of its recurring guest speakers from Court Square Law Project. After working with an SBDC advisor, Beatriz realized she needed more structure to open her unique Brazilian dessert business. Through the program, Beatriz has been able to register her business, create her financial plan, secure her 20C License and secure commercial kitchen at QEDC’s Entrepreneur Space. Delicacy Brigadeiros Craft premiered at its first event, The World’s Fare on April 28th and 29th, just one week after completing the program. Mahfuzul Islam and Alvi Zaman - Jhal NYC

Jhal NYC was started with the mission of promoting Bangladeshi culture through street foods and helping immigrants acclimate to life in the United States. The company began when owner Mahfuzul Islam and his cousin Alvi Zaman began making Bangladeshi food with their aunts and assisting them with life skills for living in NY. They began expanding their network and teaching friends and friends of friends about Bangladeshi culture. Through FEASTS, Jhal NYC gained the business mindset and structure they needed to begin scaling their business.
