Algorithm Accountability: An Introduction to NYC’s Algorithm Policy

You might have heard the word algorithm used when talking about social media or maybe even on an episode of Black Mirror. But what are algorithms, and how are they impacting you? We seek to provide a basic understanding of an algorithm during this virtual forum, utilizing actual examples of real scenarios used in City government today. The panel will build on the fundamentals, offering a comprehensive overview of the algorithms management policy office and its key provisions. In addition, we will address our public engagement strategy and provide a clear understanding of our role and impact.
