Celebrating Women's History Month: Who Am I? Frida Kahlo and Self-Portraits
This activity is designed to inspire students to answer the question “who am I?” and to create their own self-portraits. We will discuss legendary female Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, examine some of her work, and compare the process of self-portrait painting to taking selfies as a form of expression. Students will paint their own portrait on canvas and embellish it using sequins, ribbons, flowers, buttons, and other decorations.

Friends of Pomonok Present: "Alice's World" & "Women of Steel" Documentary Screenings & Discussion
Filmmaker Stuart Hersh will screen his acclaimed documentary "Alice's World" about Alice Austen (1866-1952), one of America's earliest female photographers, as well as the WWII documentary "Women of Steel' about the real-life Rosie the Riveters, the women who worked in America's steel mills and factories during WWII, in observance of Women's History Month and the 19th Amendment Centennial.
