Walk Through Walls
This exhibit is a journey through intimate journals as an archivist of personal thoughts, interpreting artists, writers, and poets, in one’s own search for meaning and wellness. Chantal Paret Antoine has a BFA in Interior Design from FIT and a Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapy from Hofstra University. She is an accomplished artist who has participated in several exhibits, including at the African American Museum, Long Island, Bread and Roses Gallery, New York, and the IMF Gallery in DC.

Culture Connection is proud to present a film screening and Q&A with Hollywood legend Lee Grant in honor of Ms. Grant and Women's History Month. Ms. Grant is a native New Yorker who went on to become a film icon both in front of and behind the camera. At 26, Ms. Grant won Cannes’ Best Actress award and was Oscar-nominated (for the film "Detective Story"); within the year, she was blacklisted under the cruel shadow of McCarthyism for over a decade.

"The Thinking Heart Cantata" tells the story of Etty Hillesum, the Dutch Jewish woman whose courage during the Holocaust makes her a comfort to all victims of oppression. The cantata’s story is based on the journal Etty kept until her deportation to Auschwitz.

Film Screening of "Iron Jawed Angels" 
Join us for a screening of a film depicting a pivotal chapter in American history. Alice Paul, played by Hilary Swank, risked her life to fight for women's citizenship and the right to vote. She founded the separatist National Woman's Party and wrote the first equal rights amendment to be presented before Congress. Together with social reformer Lucy Burns, Paul struggled against conservative forces in order to pass the 19th amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
