Mancala Tournament   

Can you master one of the oldest games? Evidence of Mancala games has been found by archaeologists in Ethiopia, dating back to between 500 and 700 AD. The word mancala is derived from the Arabic word naqala, which means "to move." This program is for ages 8-15.

In this companion session to Traveling Shoes: Black Migrations - In Their Footsteps, students reflect on their own migration story: either one they have made or a figurative one they may make in the future. What obstacles have they faced/or may they face? What are their goals? They create art in response and we will put it on display.
