Author Talk with Gretchen Sorin
The automobile had a revolutionary impact on the African American experience. However, the road was not as open and carefree for post-war African Americans as white car owners. In her book "Driving While Black: African American Travel and the Road to Civil Rights” Gretchen Sorin recovers a forgotten history of black motorists and the travel guides that kept them safe. Join us for a look into why travel was so central to the Civil Rights movement. Books will be available for sale and signing.
