Queens Public Library is here to help with specialized career training programs. Improve your English for the workplace, get your high school equivalency diploma, or receive certifications to get a new, better job. These opportunities are offered virtually and in-person.


— Adult Education Classes —

Intensive ESOL

For intermediate and advanced English language learners who want to improve their English for work. Requires an 8-10 hours per week commitment.

Intensive High School Equivalency

Get your HSE/TASC so you can advance in your job. If you need extra help, you can start with Adult Basic Education. Requires an 8-10 hours per week commitment.

ESOL
with Home Health Aide Training

Learn specific vocabulary and receive job training to become a home health aide. Requires 20 hours per week commitment. For intermediate and advanced English language learners.

ESOL
with Hospitality & Tourism Training

Gain skills in the hospitality and tourism industry. You may specialize in one of our three training areas.

Guestroom Attendants Certification:
participants will learn to maintain exceptionally clean guestrooms, meeting the highest cleanliness standards. Certification acknowledges their proficiency in all cleaning tasks.

Certified Restaurant Server Certification:
teaches servers to provide exceptional dining experiences by welcoming guests, explaining menus, serving food, and delivering excellent service. Certification acknowledges their high level of professionalism.

ESOL
with Childcare Training

Gain job training to become a childcare development associate (CDA). This program is designed for English learners and requires up to 20 hours per week. Join us to learn and develop the skills needed for a successful career in early childhood education. A CDA credential shows that you have the knowledge and ability to work with young children.
