Meet the Past Winners

2017

Metal Hawks

Metal Hawks are a young hard rock and heavy metal band from Long Island. The band is led by bass-playing front man Ryan Daversa, accompanied by John Barry on guitar, and Alex Hertler on the drums. They’re veterans of the teen live music scene, and are dedicated to refining their craft.

Chiv Culture

Chiv Culture, whose "head-nod" jazz and hip hop rhymes made the audience clap in unison to songs like “Epiphany” and their hit “Cupid.” “I feel outstanding,” said front man Akinyemi as the band accepted their award and thanked everyone from the judges to their fans. The group also has formal training in their corner, as many are students in The New School’s jazz program.

"We thank Queens Library for giving us a chance to show people what we can do... and that is to play music! Keep rockin' !!" - Back to 96. Band Members include Elijah Gurrero, Manual Quioga, Carlos Rueda, Anel Radoncic, and Joseph Larson.
