THE FAMILY IMPROV ADVENTURE WITH URBAN STAGES (IN-PERSON)

You don’t have to be an expert to get in front of an audience and have a great time! Join us for a fun and engaging workshop series filled with games, laughter, and creativity. Practicing improv theater is a great way to improve communication and create engagement. In each interactive session, kids (and parents!) will build on each other’s ideas in a positive, inviting environment.

FROM THE PLATE UP: 3-D MODELING AND PRINTING (IN-PERSON)

In this 3-D modeling series, students will learn the basics of 3-D modeling and printing using open source software. Everyone will plan an individual project and will print it out at the end of the series!

PHYSICAL STORYTELLING ADVENTURES WITH THE BROKEN BOX MIME THEATER (IN-PERSON)

Kick off your summer adventures with a fun and engaging exploration of telling stories without words! Presented by the Broken Box Mime Theater, this program will have you up on your feet for playful, nonverbal games that stretch the imagination. Physical storytelling is a mixture of mime workshop and mini-show! We will learn the basics of mime technique, playing with body language, and practicing our skills of observation.

LITTLE ARCHITECT ADVENTURES WITH ARCHFORKIDS (IN-PERSON)

This summer, join us for an adventure through the exciting world of architecture with ArchForKids!
Week 1: MERMAID VILLAGE Explore the world of mermaids and other mythical sea creatures! Design an underwater village that suits their unique needs.
Week 2: UP, UP & AWAY - TREEHOUSE DESIGN Learn all about the different treehouses that are built and how! Then design your own tree dwelling structure.
Week 3: TIME-TRAVELING THROUGH HISTORY Build a historic house inspired by the houses you can find in New York City. Learn about the architectural styles, ways of life and why historic architecture can tell you a lot about the society when it was built.
Week 4: PLAYGROUND DESIGN Create your ideal playground or adventure park.

CHARACTER AND CREATURE DESIGN WITH TEEN ART SALON (IN-PERSON)

Teen Art Salon is hosting a one-week art intensive for middle schoolers, focusing on the building blocks of visual storytelling. You will learn the basics of character design and illustrating environments. Explore the science of creature design, create figures using basic anatomy and gesture drawing, and draw inspiration from animation, manga, and graphic novels to practice depicting movement, settings, and narrative choices. You will receive a free sketchbook to dream, prepare, rehearse, record, and eventually realize your ideas. We invite all young artists who enjoy sketching original characters and unique worlds to join us. Open to rising 6th-9th graders. Space is limited, and registration is required. Register here.
