QPL’s Culture Connection is honored to host an evening with Bill Hayes for Pride Month. Hayes is an American non-fiction writer and photographer. He has written five books: Sleep Demons, Five Quarts, The Anatomist, Insomniac City and Sweat and has produced one book of photography, How New York Breaks Your Heart.
Journalist and novelist Brian Alessandro will be interviewing Hayes with a focus on Insomniac City: New York, Oliver and Me which chronicles Hayes’s six-year romantic relationship with Oliver Sacks (1933-2015). Sacks was the internationally celebrated neurologist and best-selling author. Hayes’s freelance writing has appeared in a number of periodicals, most notably The New York Times, The New Yorker, and Vanity Fair.
