Teen Programs & Services

Queens Library provides special programs and services exclusively for teens during this critical period of their lives.  Queens Library provides a variety of programs including education and literacy, job skills and training and community based civic programs. 

Queens Library believes dedicated spaces for teens are essential to provide programs and services that cater to the ever-growing needs of teens.  Queens Library has created Teen Spaces at the Central Library, Flushing Community Library, Cambria Heights Community Library and Queens Library for Teens located on Far Rockaway, which is a library exclusively for teens.

Queens Library for Teens

The Queens Library for Teens is located at 2002 Cornaga Avenue on Far Rockaway. This library is unique since it's the only library in New York City that is exclusively for teens. This library serves an average of 100 teens per day providing essential programs and services for the teens. The teens that visit this library range in age from 12 to 19 and receive support through the various programs so that they may graduate high school, get a job or to attend college. 

Daily Programs and Services:

  • Daily STEM programming and workshops

  • "Let's Work," a daily after-school program

  • Microsoft Office essentials

  • Google Docs essentials

  • Resume and cover letter workshops

  • 3D printer club

  • Music recording studio

  • College readiness

  • Career preparedness

  • SAT/Regents Test Prep

Youth Leadership Council

The Queens Library for Teens offers the Youth Leadership Council in partnership with the NYC Mayor's Office. The Youth Leadership Council meets on a regular basis and is great volunteer opportunity for teens. They can make a positive impact in their community and learn valuable leadership and communication skills. The Youth Council identifies issues in their community then focus on how to make positive changes through civic engagement.

Queens Library for Teens Radio Show

Teens can be a part of Far Rockaways very own Teen Radio Show. They'll learn how to be a radio host, create or edit topics, use various radio equipment and more! Days for the radio show are Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 p.m.

Youth Court

Queens Library for Teens offers a unique program to learn about the law while working as an attorney, baliff or judge in real court hearings. Queens Law Associates will be teaching the ins and outs of cases. Teens will find this program as a great resume builder, an opportunity to help peers from the community avoid school suspension, criminal and family court appearances, and potential violations of probation. There will also be plenty of fun parties, free field trips and activities throughout the year.
