We Invite Everyone to Free Gala Programs on the First Day of Six-Day Service .

Saturday, November 21, 2015

"I am very pleased to announce that six day service will begin November 21! I'm excited to give our customers increased access to the library's computers, books, and wide range of programs. We thank Mayor de Blasio, Speaker Mark-Viverito, and the New York City Council for investing in our city's libraries."

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana II Presents "Navidad Flamenca" at Flushing, 12/9/15

Every library in every neighborhood will be open six days a week. To celebrate, Queens Library invites everyone to free gala programs on Saturday, November 21. Special guests will be joining us on that day. But this is just the beginning. The library is scheduling additional programs throughout the year. There will be more books, more chances to use the computers, more videos to borrow, more homework help, more chances to study English or for a high school diploma, more music, dance and author talks, more interesting conversations—more Queens Library! Download new hours of service here.

Mayor de Blasio, Speaker Mark-Viverito, Finance Chair Ferreras, Cultural Affairs and Libraries Committee Chair Van Bramer, Subcommittee Chair King, and the City Council made an historic investment  in our city’s libraries. They passed a budget that included $43 million citywide in increased operating funds that allowed Queens Library to hire more staff, provide six-day service, and support more programs, more services, more library materials. Please join us in thanking them, and enjoying your neighborhood library six days a week.
