“Indecent Advances” by James Polchin   
Join us as James Polchin, PhD discusses his book “Indecent Advances: A Hidden History of True Crime and Prejudice before Stonewall.” Through extensive research, Dr. Polchin has recovered stories of killers and victims over the decades. Often lurid and euphemistic, these crime page stories reveal the hidden history of violence against gay men and the society that criminalized them. This discrimination shaped the burgeoning gay rights movement in the years leading up to Stonewall.

Documentary: American Experience Stonewall Riots      
When police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City on June 28, 1969, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for the next six days. The Stonewall riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world.
