Spring has sprung, and we’re enjoying the sunny weather with a Spring Festival! Come to Glen Oaks Library for community spirit, activities, and entertainment for all ages.

Community Coloring Project

(Teen Area)
Join us for a collective community coloring project - all are welcome!

Create a Sand Art Bottle

Create one-of-a-kind designs using bright, colorful sand in a bottle!  Supplies are limited. First-come, first-served for up to 90 children ages 5-11.  One bottle per child. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

“The Little Red Hen” Puppet Show

(2nd Floor Meeting Room)
“Who will help me make the bread?” This is the classic story of a hen who needs YOUR help to make some bread! “The Little Red Hen” is an interactive play that gets kids moving their bodies, calling out and laughing!    

Pinwheel Sculpture Project, Inspired by Dandelions!

(Main Floor)
We invite you to participate in the Pinwheel Sculpture Project. Everyone is welcome to join and activate the pinwheels attached to the sculpture! You can also engage in the collaborative creation of pinwheels, placing them on the sculpture, or taking them home as a keepsake or to share with friends, resembling the dispersal of dandelion seeds. Art supplies and instructions for crafting the pinwheels will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. (Ages 4 and up) 

Henna Painting

(Teen Area)
Join us for a Spring Festival celebration with a simple pattern henna painting for anyone ages 6 and up. Numbered tickets will be distributed at 12pm at the Lower-Level Reference Desk. The activity is available for the first 25 guests on a strict first-come, first-served basis.   

Magic Show with Magic Tiger

(2nd Floor Meeting Room)
Meet magician Magic Tiger for a fun, captivating, entertaining magic show for children and families. Get ready to be amazed! 

Face Painting for Children

(Lower Level Meeting Room)
Enjoy the festival with face painting for children. Numbered tickets will be distributed at 2pm at the Lower-Level Reference Desk. The activity is available for the first 40 guests on a strict first-come, first-served basis.

Wooden Shape Art for Children

(Main Level)
Let your inner artist shine and create pieces of art by adding wooden shapes to your favorite animals!  Supplies are limited. Two shapes per child, ages 4 and up. 

Nok Hockey Games

(Teen Area)
Have a great time playing Nok Hockey games and remember the days of old. Come with your parents and grandparents to have fun together.

Get Rhythm! with Suzanne and Glenn

(2nd Floor Meeting Room)
Suzanne Smithline and Glenn Paul Manion, founding members of the family-friendly rock and roll band Squeaky Clean, will present a program of well-loved music of the 1950s and 1960s.  Selections will include: “Rock Around the Clock,” “Blueberry Hill,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”  Singing along and reminiscing are definitely encouraged!
