How to Get Started with OverDrive

What You Need

• A Queens Public Library card
• A Queens Public Library PIN
• An Android or iOS device, or internet browser
• OverDrive App, available for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Kindle (optional)

Logging in and Checking Out An Audiobook

Step 1: Go here and log in with your Queens Public Library card number and PIN.

Step 2: Once you’ve logged in, you can browse through the available titles in all formats, including eBooks and videos. To view only audiobooks, go to “subjects” on the top navigation, select “Audiobooks”, and the select a genre.

Step 3: Select a title that you’d like to get started it with. Then click Borrow to start listening immediately. If the title is not currently available, select Place a Hold .

Step 4: In the account section, navigate to your Loans page and click Listen Now in Browser to begin listening to your chosen audiobook. You can also download the book in a MP3 Audiobook format.

Using the Libby App, By OverDrive

Meet Libby. Did you know your local library has thousands of ebooks and audiobooks? You can borrow them, instantly, for free, using just the device in your hand.

Download the Libby app on Apple App Store, Google Play, or Microsoft.

Step 1: Once you download the app, click on the button “Find My Library” and search for your library location once you find it. 

Step 2: Sign in with your Library card number and PIN.

Step 3: Start adding titles to your collection by simply selecting “Borrow”. You can also listen or read a sample of a book before requesting to borrow. 

Note: OverDrive Listen is a streaming audiobook player, so you'll need an active internet connection to use it. If you'd like to listen to audiobooks without an internet connection, you can still use the OverDrive app to download and listen to the MP3 format of the audiobook.
